BOOKBINDING . Four of my babes. The two on top are dos-a-dos style journals. The one on the bottom left is my nature journal, the bottom right is my temple's liturgy book bound pamphlet style. These are so far from professional quality, but I love the process of bookmaking/bookbinding so much. It requires such exacting attention and the results are magical, even when wildly "imperfect." . A long-term tarot project that I would love to do is give people tarot readings as little bound books. These would be very expensive, and there's no way I could do them on sliding scale considering how much time they would take, but oh, man, I would love sending them off in the mail! . #bookbinding #bookmaking #tarot #tarotreadersofig #tarotreadersofinstagram #half-bound #dos-a-dos #marbling
THE AQUARIAN TAROT . I purchased this deck on the cheap from @thetreeswestofhere (thank you!) because I want to use to to teach an upcoming tarot classes. I recently decided that I want to invite some decks into my collection that I use primarily for teaching, which also means keeping some decks in my collection that I've been trying to get rid of. . I've kind of fallen hard for the Aquarian Tarot in a way that I wasn't expecting, though. I have always liked the images, but the readings I've done with it so far have blown me away. I still probably will use it primarily for teaching, but I am glad that I brought this one into the fold. . #tarot #tarotreadrsofig #tarotreadersofinstagram #aquariantarot #tarotclass #spirituality #divination #spiritualpractice
I never thought I'd have this many oracle decks. The field of oracle decks seemed to be dominated by gooey decks that didn't seem to have enough bite for me. For a long time, the Earthbound Oracle was my only oracle deck. Then at some point, I added the Druid Animal deck. Then I got Animal Spirit in a trade. And then I got Vessel. Buying Vessel was a big deal because it is the gooiest possible deck—and yet, I realized that I needed a gooey deck. Vessel was a gift to my inner child. . More recently, I got Spirit Cats to do readings for children at an event, and then I impulse purchased Inquire Within. So I guess my taste in oracle decks has gone from quite hard-edged to tender and soft. . Once I began reading for other people, I started leaning hard on oracle decks in a new way. I generally pull a single card from an oracle deck to act as the person's significator, or to signify where they are now, or the crux of the issue. And then I complement that with a full tarot spread. I've gotten some great feedback on how oracle cards work in these readings. While I don't know if I'll ever do entire readings just with oracle cards, they have a suggestiveness that complements tarot nicely. . How do you use oracle decks? I'm not planning on any purchases soon, but do you have any to recommend? Obviously ANIMALS + FEELINGS is a big theme for me. XD . (Also just realizing that all but one of these are indie decks—Animal Spirit was still an indie deck when I purchased it. Perhaps I am just not the target market of decks made by publishing houses.) . #tarotreadersofig #oracledeck #oracledecks #indiedecks #decklust #druidanimaloracle #vesseldeck #vesseloracle #inquiredeck #inquirewithin #earthboundoracle #spiritcatsdeck #wildunknownanimalspirit
I have finished working with @marleegrace's How to Not Always Be Working. I was expecting the book to be a quick read, but I savored it and slowed down, working through all the prompts in my journal. . I hope to do a full review of this book in next month's newsletter (the one scheduled to go out next week is already jam packed), but for now I'll say that this book helped me to think about the work I do as a tarot reader/business owner as well as a person working my 9-5 job. It helped me see overall what my work is and isn't. And it helped me get off of my phone a little more. . #tarotreadersofig #work #notworking #rest #inquiredeck
